There are all types of wonderful dogs bred for all types of work, play and fun.  The right dog does exist for everyone but sometimes finding the right match can be tricky.  We were lucky enough to find the right breed for our family almost 10 years ago with our first Aussie, Bear.  He was a beautiful black bi with a loving personality and a strong natural instinct to protect and love his family. 

Here we are, ten years later, still in love with the breed and ready to share the wonderful qualities of the Australian Shepherd with others.  BOB’s Aussie Ranch is owned by me, Robin Shea and my sister, Kyra Cross; BOB’s Aussie Ranch is not only the name of our Aussie Ranch but it is also the name of our Dad who believed in us and wanted to support the love we share for this great breed.  Big Bob (our Dad) encouraged us to start our breeding program and provided us with the capitol to take our hobby breeding to the next level.  After months of searching for just the right pair we purchased Creek (a very rare double blue eyed tri stud out of Wanagi Ishna) and Siren (another rare blue eyed tri female).

Kyra and I have spent countless hours educating ourselves by reading books, interviewing breeders, speaking with the Australian Shepherd Health and Genetics Institute and making mistakes.  Through this educational process we have come to understand the tragedy that can result from poor breeding practices and we have gained a great deal of respect for the thoughtfulness that must go in to a responsible breeding program.  

Well educated and responsible breeding practices play a critical role in a successful breeding program and greatly reduce the possibility of temperament disorders, the predisposition to disease, and the genetic complications that can result from uneducated, irresponsible breeding.  Breeding healthy and sound Australian Shepherds is a science and should not be taken lightly; due to the complexity of their genetic make-up prospective buyers should only purchase from serious and committed breeders.  Whether you purchase from BOB’s Aussie Ranch or another breeder, do your homework and make certain you are purchasing from a breeder that knows their stuff.
